Currently, we are turning a garage into a temporary bedroom for our clients elderly family member. She is in a wheelchair and the family is doing a great deed by bringing her into there home to take care of her. Just in three days we have already started to transform a regular garage into a 20ft by 20ft bedroom with a 4ft by 26in closet (for clothes) and a 14ft by 5ft storage closet to enclose the hot water tank and storage containers. Day 1 we framed the room and ran wires for the new outlets in the new walls and ceiling. Day 2 we installed insulation and sheetrock and began the process of finishing the sheetrock. Day 3 there was only one way into the garage with us closing the garage door and that was through the main house. We cut out a section in the side wall in the garage wall and installed a 36in exterior entrance door for the nurses and visitors to visit the family member without bothering the family and also easier for the family to transport the family member in and out the house. We pour a concrete pad at the front of the new door with a slope for easy entrance into the new room.
Now what's left for us is painting, installation of carpet, interior doors for the closets, and installing light fixtures and plugs. We will install ramps in the garage at both entrances into the garage. We also will remove the door of the bathroom down stairs, frame, and install a larger door for the family member. The family member will be moving in with her family in about 2 more weeks and we will have everything finished an ready for her ahead of time. Our clients like all others are very satisfied with the work we are doing. A picture of the finished product will be available on this site when we are finished. I was working so hard I forgot to take a before picture. Sorry!!! Next time I won't forget.
